INTRODUCTION TO IMOVE
IMOVE is a combined maths and health educational programme, suitable for pupils aged 10–13. The twofold goal is to develop pupils’ understanding of how movement is part of everyday life, as well as enhance their understanding of applied statistics. IMOVE is easily manageable in two weeks. The pupils must count their steps with step counters during school hours for one week. Then they will work with their own figures as statistical data material during maths lessons in the following week. They will reflect on, among other things, their own movement patterns, their class’s patterns, and the significance of the school day’s structure. Research has shown that participation in IMOVE can support the pupils’ ability to apply health knowledge to their own lives and reflect critically about health and physical activity It is a good idea to read through the teacher’s guide and examine the assignments before starting
